The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, as amended, protects employees from discrimination based on disabilities, and requires employers to reasonably accommodate employee’s disabilities.  A reasonable accommodation is a change in the way things are usually done and may include special equipment that allows the person to perform the essential functions of the job, scheduling changes, and changes to the way work assignments are chosen or communicated. The ADA applies to most employers with fifteen or more employees.
